MacKenzie's First Disney Trip - Day 1

Things have been pretty quiet here on the blog the last few weeks...first MacKenzie was sick, then Grumps was sick and then we spent 9 days in Disney World!
We left Monday evening for Birmingham and spent the night at the Embassy Suites.  We were up on Tuesday and ready to head to the airport!

MacKenzie had a blast looking out the windows and watching the planes at the airport.  She did great on her first flight - when we took off, she said "Here we go" and "Weeeeeeeeee".

When we arrived in Orlando, we took Disney's Magical Express to our resort - Bay Lake Towers.  We rented Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points and had an awesome 2 bedroom, 3 bath villa with a view of the Magic Kingdom.  We were able to take the monorail or walk to the Magic Kingdom.

After we got checked in and MacKenzie took a little nap, we headed to the Magic Kingdom in the pouring rain.  Our first stop was to get one of our favorite Disney treats - a Pineapple Dole Whip in Adventureland.  MacKenzie LOVED it and ate about 1/2 of mine.

We had fastpasses for Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan and Dumbo.  Unfortunately, we missed our Winnie the Pooh fastpass time and Dumbo was closed because of the rain.  We did get to ride Peter Pan and then we rode the Teacups, which MacKenzie had been asking to ride for several weeks.

We left the Magic Kingdom and headed back to our room to dry off and get ready for dinner at Chef Mickeys.  MacKenzie LOVED meeting Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto during dinner.  She did great with the characters and was SO cute with them.

After dinner, MacKenzie was ready for bed.  MiMi and I enjoyed the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our balcony and then we went to bed since we had another busy day planned for Wednesday.
