Mother's Day Weekend

I am SO far behind on blogging...we've been quite busy the last few weeks.  For Mother's Day weekend, MacKenzie, MiMi & I headed up to Tennessee to spend the weekend with our family up there.  Saturday morning, Grandaddy went and got a huge box of fresh strawberries.  MacKenzie LOVES "straw-straws" and probably ate an entire quart by herself.

I got to spend Saturday afternoon getting my cousin Benjamin's sweet girlfriend Courtney ready for prom.  I had so much fun doing her hair and makeup.  Then we headed to downtown Clinton, where I took a bunch of pictures of them.  Here are a couple of pictures of them...I need to spend some time going through the rest and editing some favorites.

MacKenzie enjoyed spending time with GG (Grandmother), Grandaddy, Marion and the rest of the family on Saturday.  Saturday evening, my cousin Carmen came over with her baby Annabelle.  Carmen and her husband Luis and Annabelle live in Nicaragua, so this was our first opportunity to meet Annabelle.  MacKenzie LOVED her.
Sunday, we all went out to lunch to celebrate Mother's Day.  It was really nice to be able to celebrate the day with my sweet girl, my Mom and Grandmother.  Unfortunately, our meal took a really long time and MacKenzie was ready to go so we didn't get many pictures.

First ER Visit

I've been really behind on blogging and this is why...A month ago, on April 15th, MacKenzie broke her leg.  I was fixing her bath and she was playing with MiMi and Grumps.  She climbed into her little recliner and as she was getting out, her foot got stuck between the chair and the foot rest.  Here is an old picture of her in the recliner...
She cried and wouldn't put any weight on her left leg.  Our next door neighbor is an RN, so she came over and looked at it and suggested we take MacKenzie to the ER.  Once at the ER, they got us checked in and then we went for X-Rays before going to a "room".  Finally a doctor came to see her and confirmed that her tibia was broken.

Next they came and finally gave her some pain medicine.  After that kicked in, a splint was put on her leg.

We finally got to go home around midnight.  Then, I went back out to the only 24 hour pharmacy in town to get her pain medicine prescriptions filled.  MiMi and I took turns sleeping on the floor with her the rest of the night.  Then we thought to get out her toddler blow-up bed for the next few days/nights.

On Thursday, we went to see the orthopedic doctor who put her in a long cast (pink, of course) and gave us instructions to come back in two weeks.
MacKenzie did great adjusting to having the cast on.  She figured out how to "scoot" around so that she could still be mobile.  I think it was harder on us to adjust to carrying her / taking care of her than it was for her to adjust to having the cast.

Two weeks later, we went back to the orthopedic doctor and the break in her leg had healed, so they took her cast off.  It took her about a week before she really started walking / putting a lot of weight on her left leg again.  She is pretty much back to normal, except that sometimes she limps a little and it seems like if she walks too much, the limp is more noticeable.

Hopefully, we don't have any return trips to the ER anytime soon!

20 Months Old!

MacKenzie is 20 months old...I can't believe my "baby" is almost 2 years old.  She is definitely not a baby anymore.
She weighs about 26 1/2 lbs and is between 32 & 33 inches tall (it is hard to measure a toddler!).  She is wearing size 24 month and 2T clothes.  MacKenzie likes to help pick out her outfits and will frequently tell us "I don't like it" if she doesn't want to wear something.  She has also started asking to wear a bow in her hair almost every day.
MacKenzie is very active - I don't think she is still most of the time when she is awake.  She loves to go outside to play, swing, blow bubbles and go on walks.  She also likes to play with her tea set, Little People zoo, and read books.  MacKenzie loves to listen to music and "sing".  She sings "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Old McDonald", "Row, Row, Row Your Boat", "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" and a few other songs.
She still LOVES Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  She likes to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney Junior and knows all the characters, will say "Oh Toodles" and  some of the other phrases from the show.
Everyday, she says more new words.  She is learning her numbers and colors.  Right now, her favorite color to say is "yellow" and her favorite number is "six".  She can count to three and with some help, she can get to 10.  She can pick a lot of friends and family out in pictures...she knows Mommy, MiMi, Grumps, GG (Grandmother), Grandaddy, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Meghan, Sissy, Joe, Nick, MeMaw (Brenda), PoppaP or PP as she calls him (Jim), Yia-Yia (Helena) and Papou (Danny).  She also knows all her friends at daycare and school.  MacKenzie loves going to Ms. Pat's for daycare 3 days a week and she loves going to "school" one day a week at WEE.
MacKenzie is a good eater and will eat a lot of different things.  She loves beans of any kind, green beans and her favorite foods are bacon and berries, especially strawberries.  I think she ate a quart of fresh strawberries over the weekend!
Right before turning 20 months old, we had our first ER visit for a broken leg...which I will write about soon...that is also why this post is so late.
I am looking forward to seeing what the next month has in store for MacKenzie and what all she learns.  It is so much fun to see what words she will learn to say and what new things she will start doing each day.

Circus

MiMi, MacKenzie and I went to the circus on Sunday with Ashley, Matt & Will.  I didn't get a lot of pictures because MacKenzie wasn't too sure she liked it...except for the "big cats" and the cotton candy...but she looked really cute in her circus outfit.

Future Ballerina???

MacKenzie got the cutest tutu in the mail from Auntie Becky a couple of weeks ago.  She had a blast wearing it around the house and doing "ballerina" moves...

Throwback Thursday

A popular trend on social media these days is "Throwback Thursday" (TBT), where people post old pictures of themselves.  So, in keeping with that trend, I thought we'd to a little TBT here on the blog...
A year ago today, here on the blog I posted about MacKenzie's first Easter...

Wow...How things change in a year....

19 Months Old!

My sweet girl turned 19 months old on Saturday!  It's hard to believe that she is only a few months away from turning 2!
MacKenzie weighs 26 lbs and is about 32 inches tall.  She is still wearing 18 month and 24 month clothes.
It seems like everyday she learns new words and talks more and more.  She has so many different words that she says now that it is hard to keep up with them.  Lately we have been working on "please" and "thank you".
MacKenzie is full of personality.  She likes to look at her clothes hanging in the closet, but when asked if she would like to wear something she says "no...no...I don't like it" and will push the clothes back in the closet.
She continues to be a wonderful sleeper and a good eater.  There aren't many foods she doesn't like and she particularly loves berries, green beans, really any type of beans, cheese, fish (gold fish crackers) and cookies.
MacKenzie loves music and to "sing" and dance.  She will sing "Bye-bye Baby" (Rock-a-bye Baby), "E-I-E-I" (Old McDonald), a little of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Row Your Boat.  She has been going to swim lessons for the past month and likes some parts of swimming better than others.  She loves dogs and cats and trying to love on them.  MacKenzie also likes to make animal noises...she particularly likes to "baaaaaa" (sheep) and "Hssssss" (snake).
MacKenzie made a lot of trips to the doctor's office this month.  She just couldn't seem to get rid of the cold/runny nose/cough mess that had been going on since January.  The doctor finally put her on an antibiotic and then she broke out in a rash, which was another trip to the doctor.  Then she started running a high fever again, so another trip to the doctor and a new antibiotic and she finally seems to be feeling better.
